I am curious to hear what my fellow Venetians feel should be done about the World Assembly Delegate role.
For context: The World Assembly Delegate is not explicitly part of the Constitution of Venice. The original plan I had was to hold informal elections to inform me, the Doge, on popular opinion and then use my power of appointment to appoint the World Assembly Delegate as a Supreme Council position.
The only snag? The two times we attempted holding these elections, nobody was interested.
With activity on the rise, people may be interested now. But are elections the best route to go? I'm interested in everyone's thoughts.

If this topic is being debated, may I ask what exactly the rôle of the WA delegate is in relation to the Republic? Given that we have an active (& may I say most benevolent) founder, it seems to me that they do not really factor into our government/institutions (no offense intended to Oíran).

You are right but still choosing who represents us to the WA is important
Not really huge part in government function though

When I made a dispatch about WA Delegate elections, here are the duties I laid out:
I think these three things are important, especially in the context of building up voting power in the World Assembly. If we can get our region up to 30, 40, 50 endorsements, I think we'd have an easier time forging some alliances with folks as we'd have significant voting power.
That being said, there are higher priorities than the WA (getting activity going, more active members of the government), but I do think it's a worthy objective to have someone working on.

I agree, I will think we should create legislation to outline how the WA delegate will be chosen from here on out.
Personally I think they should be elected by the citizens of Venice

Or perhaps, should nobody be interested, bestow the power to select someone unto the Consiglio? That might be easier in cases where no one steps up for election – the region would still have a delegate, albeit temporarily.

I am happy to have the Consiglio elect the WA Delegate similarly to how they elect the Chief Magistrate. Or, we can formalize the WA Delegate as a Supreme Councilor who I nominate. I think both options have pro's and con's, but either way, I would emphasize a set "term" for the Delegate (probably at least three months if not more) so they have time to gather endorsements before a regime change.

Do we have a process to determine how the WAD votes, or are they able to vote as they please?

Do we have a process to determine how the WAD votes, or are they able to vote as they please? No process as of yet. Part of the WA Delegate job description I proposed was getting them to regularly poll the region, but those elections never happened so the expectations were never really put into place

I like the latter idea, as someone you nominate and has to be confirmed by the Consiglio.
